насколько понимаю, в СК legal notices (которые публикуются официальным органом The Gazette) имеют довольно ограниченную номенклатуру: банкротство (корпоративное и персональное), смена имени, поиск наследников, градостроительные и дорожные работы, королевские награды и назначения и т.д. распродажа активов в их число не входит распродажа (с публичных торгов/аукциона) объявляется в качестве просто объявления в прессе, в любом издании на усмотрение конкурсных управляющих, например. |

leka11: *** johnstephenson, why not "notice of"? *** 'notice of' is used in certain set expressions and in the titles of certain official announcements ('Notice of Appeal [to a court]', 'Notice of Arrears' etc) but it doesn't sound quite right to me here. If Alex really wants to use 'notice of', he needs to capitalise it 'Notice of Public Sale' – but is it the title of an official document in the original...? Also, 'notice of' can have a separate meaning of 'a warning that (sth) is to take place in a specified length of time', as in: So, to avoid any ambiguity, I chose the words I did because I felt that's how it would be phrased in an English-language newspaper. You can sometimes say 'a notice about (sth)', but I felt that, from a style point of view, 'a (notice/advertisement) announcing ......' was better in this case. |
