если здесь употребить глагол transfer, то это будет ближе по смыслу к "перевести" ("т. е. меня перевели в другую школу").
я бы сказал "I moved to another school one year ago."

и возможно более точно: вариант с moved в америках будет звучать как переход ввиду переезда на другой адрес. а так ли было дело в контексте?

Мне все же ближе вариант "I was / has been transferred to...".

И еще - moved to another school НЕ ОБЯЗАТЕЛЬНО подразумевает переезд в другой район. Можно продолжать жить по прежнему адресу, но перейти в другую школу (например, если в предыдущей школе ребенку что-то не нравилось), в catchment area которой попадает ваш дом. Оговорюсь, что это актуально для Британии, про другие страны не скажу.

Зависит от того, кому говорят. Кому вы скажете по-русски "и я стал посещать другую школу"? Или: "стал ходить, ездить, пришлось пойти (перейти)..."
