Given that the UK's such a small country, I've never understood why it has so many different regional accents. The first and second links are both pretty good, but they missed out the centre of the universe -- Lincolnshire, my native county, on the east coast of England! This could be because hardly anyone lives there....
I once knew a music teacher from Horncastle who was quite an expert on the county's accents and dialects. He reckoned he could even tell which town in Lincolnshire the person lived closest to, just from their accent/dialect. |

Коллеги, привет. Обычно я различаю основные акценты Британии, США, австралийский и новозеландские акценты, акценты Ирландии и ЮАР (по крайней мере ярко выраженные). Но всегда вызывал затруднение канадский акцент (возможно, потому что его редко можно услышать в кино или по новостям). Мне казалось, что он идентичен американскому. Считается, что стереотипным признаком канадского акцента считается Canadian raising - то, как они произносят, например, слово about (что американцы часто воспроизводят как 'aboot'). Но все не так просто - оказывается, есть много разновидностей канадского акцента (или, скажем, акцентов). Привожу очень интересное серьезное видео на этот счет - для тех, кто интересуется акцентами, фонетикой. trtrtr: Sherlock --Yes! Tour of UK accents -- Interesting. I've never heard the Manx (=Isle of Man) accent before, nor had I ever heard of Pitmatic before. And as someone from the east of England, I can't tell the difference between the accents for some of these adjacent areas of the UK -- but that's due purely to not being used to them. The UK's regional accents & dialects, particularly in some of the more rural areas, have been in decline for some time. It began with radio in the 1920s (because the BBC generally used Received Pronunciation ('RP') and/or the accents of 'educated' south-east England), accelerated with the coming of TV, and continues to accelerate with the internet & online videos. I'm sure the same applies to other countries, though. Canada -- I can't really tell much difference between the Canadian accents either, nor between these & some northern US ones. Clearly "my education is lacking" here! |

Это на Юге они его выворачивают невероятиным образом |
