Subject: Hay barreler, mush-maligned cruches. sport.
В статье описываются упражнения для пресса:
Do shorter planks, focusing on versions that include movements to challenge your core more. (We've got 15 ideas here). Two more of Mattew's favorite ab moves. The wood chop, and its reverse, the hay barreler. And don't discount much-maligned crunches.

Не совсем понятно значение слова much-maligned и словосочетания hay barreler. Как правильно их перевести?

could it be related to "hay bailer"?

I'm too sleepy now to check it out.

"much malighned" might mean that some people say disparaging things about this exercise, considering it somehow inferior compared with other exercises

Thaks a lot! It's hay barreler. And one more thing in the following sentence: You can do an effective workout on more joint-friendly machines like the elliptical, stationary bike or rower.

Does a rower means a boat or is it something else? Thanks)
