если контекст позволяет, то можно и без relatives обойтись, our/their XXX in-laws, где XXX - сын или дочка.
но туда же и проч. родня входит, типа золовок

где ж он однозначный в ситуации "к нам на новоселье пришли сваты", где "мы" - клан Ивановых, а "сваты" - родители супругов ивановских детей?

ЕМНИП, в таком случае говорят не просто "сваты", а "наши сваты".

В любом случае, для приведенного Вами примера - "our daughter-in-law's parents".

Я читаl. Не понял, почему из двух вариантов выбрано было значение отцов грума и брайд. "отец одного из супругов по отношению к родителям другого супруга; отец зятя или невестки" ◆

Обратил. Только a "matchmaker" is someone who tries to FIND a suitable partner for someone else to marry, whereas negotiations are carried out by the representatives of the family.
Короче говоря, первые занимаются "подбором кадров", вторые же приходят и обсуждают условия "брачных контрактов", даты проведения мероприятий, участников и т.д.
