market power (An indefinite concept concerned with the strength of the position of the dominant firm in a market. Market power can be regarded as high if the dominant firm has the ability to act as a price leader, if it can dictate the conditions of sale for its products, if it is able to deter entry, or if it can make persistently super-normal profits.
