An arm or branch of the ground forces whose role is to conduct combat operations independently or in cooperation with other arms and specialized support troops. Their principal armament is the tank, of which there are several types. Tank troops consist of tactical tank formations and units as well as units of motorized rifle, missile, artillery, antiaircraft artillery, antiaircraft missile, specialized support and logistic services troops. Tank units also form part of the motorized rifle infantry and mechanized infantry and naval infantry forces. The tank troops provide the principal attack capability of the ground forces.
