CP which has a limited lifetime and tasked, at the beginning of the action, with: 1. establishing initial liaisons; 2. making local contacts host nation, allies, embassy, etc.; 3. assessing the situation, which comprises the validation of assumptions and presuppositions contained in the planning and the suppression of uncertainties; 4. reconnoitering. The light initial CP can become either the MAIN CP if it was aimed, from the very beginning, to lead the operations, or the supporting CP if it was aimed, from the very beginning, at ensuring the logistical support when units arrive on the theatre.
