mil., logist.
A multinational and multi-service force, task-organized and formed for contingency operations, which requires multinational and multiservice command and control. Designed to make NATO's joint military assets available for wider operations by NATO nations or by the Western European Union, the concept of combined joint task force was introduced at the 1994 Brussels Summit. Detailed work continues in coordination with the Western European Union on the implementation of the concept, with a view to providing separable but not separate military capabilities that could be employed by NATO or in operations with nations outside the Alliance.
