All information enabling an engineer commander to gain a thorough knowledge of the terrain, its features as applied to the maneuver and its possible changes, in order to be able to: 1. participate in the design of the combined arms maneuver; 2. advise the tactical commander on the ensuing employment; 3. decide on the implementation and conduct of the maneuver of engineer assets. One distinguishes: 4. current intelligence, in order to determine, at a given point in time, the genuine characteristics of the physical environment and of the area infrastructure, bridges, local material resources, etc.; 4. forecasting intelligence, in order to assess the timelines and assets required to produce a given effect.
