A simulation, by whatever means, of a military operation involving two or more opposing forces, using rules, data, and procedures designed to depict an actual or assumed real life situation. (UKR/NATO); A type of command training to perfect the skills of generals, admirals and field officers in organising preparation for an operation and command and control during combat operations, to achieve teamwork in command and control, and to investigate new developments in military art and force structures and methods of using them. These exercises are based on maps, and their essential purpose is to enable those under training in command and control organizations based on a common situation to perform their command and control duties in an actual operation.
