The relocation of forces to desired areas of operations. Related term: Deployment. 2. Withdrawal action consisting in modifying the force size, type, organization or deployment locations to cope with a new situation. It implies a new definition of the mission or starting a new phase of the initial mission. A change in the strategic logic has consequences on the organization of the theater, the security of the disposition, the nature of the weapons deployed, the command and intelligence structures. A warning is necessary to adapt the forces to a new environment.
