Out of the bag, it gave me a fresh crop of fungus gnats indoors which took months to eradicate and no, I didn't have any gnats until a few days after I brought a freshly potted plant inside. After that, I sterilized the soil by heating it on high in a foil roaster in my natural gas BBQ for 20 minutes. (...) Since I repotted all of my plants with my sterilized soil last fall, I haven't had one fungus gnat and my plants are thriving. Even the 1 leaf plant that hasn't grown for 5 years now has 3 healthy leaves. Miracle Gro (and most others have the same problem) really needs to resume sterilizing soil because fungus gnats are a horrible gift to customers.
