The art of combining, in operations, the action of all military assets in order to reach the objectives assigned by the operational strategy. FRA 2. A component of military art, embracing both the theory and the practice of preparing and conducting operations involving subunits, units ships and tactical formations of the various armed forces, arms of the service, arm or branch and specialized support troops. Theoretical tactics examines the principles, nature and essential features of combat, developing procedures for its preparation and conduct. Applied tactics covers the practice of tactical-level commanders, staffs and troops in preparing for and engaging in combat. This includes the constant review of the situation; the commander's plan; the assignment of tasks to subordinate forces; the organization of cooperation; operational planning and tactical mission preparation; conduct of operations and command and control of units and subunits; comprehensive support of combat operations.
