Подскажите, пожалуйста, что в этом контексте могло значить слово "Rufcharakter"?

Mein ehemaliger Münsteraner Kollege und Freund E. J. Lengeling hat gesagt, wenn man das Sanctus als authentischen Part der Gottesdienst feiernden Gemeinde versteht, „so ergeben sich darausnicht nur zwingende Folgerungen für neue Vertonungen, sondern auch Exklusiven für diemeisten gregorianischen und für alle polyphonen Vertonungen, da sie das Volk vom Gesang ausschließen und den Rufcharakter nicht beachten“. In der Tat ist die Behauptung vom Rufcharakter, der allein durch die Gemeinde wahrgenommen werden könnte, durch nichts zu begründen.

имхо здесь Ruf в смысле призыва (общины) к молитве
...следует исключить большинство грегорианских напевов и полифонических мелодий, т.к. они отстраняют народ от участия в пении и не учитывают характер Sanctus как призыва к молитве

Это тот случай, когда наличие перевода на другой язык вызывает у меня некоторое смятение:

As a matter of fact, the alleged acclamatory character of the Sanctus, to which only the congregation could do justice, is totally unfounded.

и wahrnehmen тоже вроде не justice...
