Subject: OFF: lawyers
Ok, this is going to be the stangest thing I ever ask here:

Is anyone here a lawyer working in either Romania, Bulgaria or Lithuania? (KL don't worry, your position is safe if you want it -waiting for an answer)

If you are one of the above, please write to me at gogolesque@mail.ru

Thanks!

I suppose this means one of 2 things:
1. we have no one here living in eastern europe
2. even if someone here lives in eastern europe, they are not a lawyer-translator

well schucks!

I can only comment that if some person is a lawyer here *in Eastern Europe*, it is a stupidity to do translations, and not law.

Lawers here make such a nice buck that they just do not take translations.
By the way you still can hire them for a translation. They will charge you at a normal rate of 100 euro per hour.

I speak about Estonia. But I really don't think that lawyers in other east-european countries will do opposite.

there is one more point

someone should be very naive to expext that any Estonian/Latvian/Lithuanian/East European lawyer would visit and monitor RUSSIAN forum.

Trying to ruin my day, obviously :)
At any rate, you are quite wrong in your assumptions. We do in fact have some among us. And, for what it's worth - lawyers are not always lawyers. I know plenty who work in different fields (including translations) becasue they say they wanted something more по душе.
Have a lovely day, my dear cranky tumanov.

Susan, try asking (or at least searching) at ProZ - www.proz.com

You obviously speak about americans, totalling to something about hundreds of millions....

I am speaking about baltic lawyers, who have one lovely work "po dushe" today, and it's money making....

don't forget the difference in total populations.... :0)
You can easily fire a thousand of american lawyers and find substitutes on the next day.
Here , in Tallinn at least, they see problems to find one or two of them ...

no, i am not speaking about Americans. My knowledge of this world is not so limited as that.
And I hate to disappoint you, but not all Baltic lawyers are money grubbers and penny pinchers. Maybe the ones you know in Tallinn are, but Tallinn is only one small city in a wider Baltic context. Try to remember that. And finally, please do not forget that Eastern Europe does not end with the Baltics.

Yes, I remember and I am glad you have met more good lawyers than I.

"To kill all lawyers" - one famous person once told this....
I wonder - why? :0)
