да и pledge здесь не подходит, не тот регистр. Можно сказать I pledge allegiance to the flag ...
посмотрите в гугле примеры, в данном контексте это слово не употребляется

это намного лучше, только, пожалуй, _in_ its books

to record in the books .... to keep on the books ... IMHO
