Вопрос по поводу Possesive Case

Есть такое предложение: After Elner Shimfissle accidentally poked that wasps’ nest up in her fig tree, the last thing she remembered was thinking “Uh-oh.” Не могу понять, зачем здесь апостроф. Wasps - множественное число слова осы, nest up - гнездиться, создать гнездо. Можно конечно перевести wasps' nest как "гнездо ос", но тогда не понятно зачем там слово up. Помогите разобраться, пожалуйста.

Почитал, напротив, про Inseparable phrasal Verbs и удивился. Там в том числе перечислен "pass on - transmit something". Но разве не говорят "pass this on please"?

Странно. Согласен, что pass on можно разбивать. Примеры есть

Всё вертелась в голове строчка из песни, никак не мог понять, откуда. Теперь вспомнил: это Linkin Park, песня Roads Untraveled: "...and let that mistake pass on".

Совершенно не в тему, но раз уж пошли шерстить грамматику, почему бы не вспомнить?

А по поводу разбивать-не разбивать фразовые глаголы - не такая простая тема. С института еще помнится пример: The doctors looked the patient through vs. The doctors looked through the patient. Как говорится, почувствуйте разницу.

Нет, это просто были примеры употребления фразовых глаголов, без всякого иного контекста. Чтобы понять оттенки смысла в каждом случае.

более того,  "to pass on  (something)"  может иметь еще  как минимум   два сильно других значения 

(которых у "to pass (something) on" не наблюдается)
