Доброе утро, форумчане! Смею обратиться за помощью или хотя бы подсказкой.
У меня на руках мед. сертификат сотрудника, который проходил аудиометрию.

The above named has undergone an audio and the result is:

HSE Cat. -Cat1, Normal
Action: Review with medical.

Никак не соберу мысль с action. Если результат нормальный, то что должно быть выполнено? Врач должен дать расшифровку? или что?

Может быть, просто "Рекомендация: повторный осмотр (обследование)"? Вроде бы, ничего удивительного нет - даже в случае, если всё в норме, для ради профилактики очень часто врач советует обратиться через некоторое время еще раз.

И даже если так, почему этот специалист не может по результатам обследования рекомендовать прийти еще раз?
(Это никак не компетентное возражение, а просьба к Вам как специалисту объяснить, чтО здесь может иметься в виду, - нередко приходится переводить и такие тексты, пригодится.)

Не положено. Я вижу кровоизлияние в мозгу, я вижу камни в почках, я вижу лопнутый аппендикс, я вижу печень, пораженную циррозом, я вижу переломленные кости, но говорить пациенту не имею права. Я не врач.

А по теме догадок может быть миллион. Подозреваю, тут "Action: Review with medical." означает "обсудить с врачом", который направил на обследование. Т.е. человек не приходит прямо к врачу-отоларингологу, а его направляет туда лечащий врач. Полагаю, результат теста будут оба врача обсуждать.

* 'Review' (a verb) = the patient's health should be reviewed at some time in the future.
* 'medical' (a noun) = 'a medical examination' = a standard/general examination that doctors perform on patients at specified times (soon, monthly, annually or whenever) to monitor their health – for example, after an operation, when they're applying for certain jobs, or when they reach a certain age.

So 'Action: Review with medical' here is shorthand for 'Further action that should take place: The patient's health should be reviewed/monitored by subjecting them to a medical examination'.

Версию "with medical = с врачом" я рассматривал для себя в самом начале, но не увидел в словарной статье МТ "medical" ни одного перевода с русским одушевленным существительным, кроме "студент-медик" с пометой "разг.", поэтому сразу отмел этот вариант.

То, что предлагает Дж. Стивенсон - "Проверить состояние больного при последующем обследовании" - совпадает с уже предложенным ранее "Рекомендован повторный медицинский осмотр".

I Havkin: Yes, a 'medical' is a confusing term as it's an adjective but is frequently used as a noun in standard English. The full term is a 'medical examination' or 'medical assessment'. In addition, both 'action' and 'review' can be used as either nouns or verbs, which complicates things further. Finally, as with lots of doctors' notes, it's written in shorthand, which doesn't help matters either! You got the sense of it very well, though.

Review with medical, in my opinion, is another term for widely used phrase "Clinical correlation is recommended". It means that findings (even negative result) need to be correlated with patient's medical history and symptoms. Usually specialists write this way for a primary doctor because they do not know patient's history or diagnosis.

The expression "Clinical correlation is recommended" is used during the reporting of a laboratory investigation like x-ray, CT/MRI, blood tests or for that matter any tests/investigations.

What does Clinical Correlation recommended mean?

This expression is added to the report because the Dr. who interprets the x-ray or other test report sees a finding on the test that has more than one possibilities. The reporting Dr. is not familiar with the patient's clinical history and examination findings so they let the patient's clinic Dr. make the final decision regarding out of the many different possibilities which is the most likely possibility.

Amor: Well, you seem to be a healthcare professional (which I'm not) – but 'medical' by itself seems a rather ambiguous term to use to mean something more specific such as 'medical history'. Or if it refers to a person/persons, could it be a doctor's/other medical professional's in-house shorthand/jargon for something like 'medical staff', 'medical team' or 'medical [someone else]'? If it just refers to (say) a GP who's referred the patient to the clinic/hospital, they'd just put 'review with GP', I'd have thought.

I'll leave it to you, as you know more about this subject than me. My knowledge is limited to the layman's understanding of a 'medical' (see above) + formal letters (not in-house forms) exchanged between hospital consultants I've visited and my GP + referral letters from my GP to hospital consultants, with copies sent for information sent to me as the patient.

John, I have never heard "medical" as a reference to a doctor. At least in my area. "Review with medical" would be very strange, if they ment a doctor. Usually they say MD, or physician, ordering doctor.
