'will depend on the nature and severity of what is being treated' is just a technical way of saying 'will depend on what is being treated, and how severe it is'. Similarly, |

From En10.5 Ru9.5 Dao2812, your translation is okay but I think the phrase “rate and time-course of administration” can hardly mean ‘скорость и динамика введения препарата’ = the speed and dynamic of an injection shot. It’s illogical. It should mean the rate (frequency) + the timeframe (days or weeks) for administering this drug. So the translation should be: ... частота и срок использования препарата... Here I replaced the word введения with использования because it sounds much better that way. Фактическое количество, которое должно вводиться, а также частота и срок использования препарата будут зависеть от природы и тяжести заболевания, подлежащего лечению. The author obviously is not an American or British person. |
rate of administration - скорость введения лекарства и расчитывается как количество поделенное на время. Например, 100 кубических мл. в час. |
Amor 71, you are right -- it can mean what you say it means, especially if we were talking about IV, but it is unlikely here. Plus the time course obviously means days and weeks. That is because we are talking about injection of joints, bursae, and tendon sheaths. It does require special knowledge and training, so you can’t give yourself a shot like that. But the procedure is pretty fast, not as fast as an ordinary intramuscular shot in the buttocks though. The main point here is the technique of inserting the needle precisely at the correct angle as well as penetrating the precise spot. Simply put, NO, IT IS NOT ABOUT THE SPEED OF INJECTION! IT IS ABOUT THE TIMEFRAME. SOMETIMES SUCH INJECTIONS ARE ADMINISTERED ONCE A WEEK. Dao2812, please ask a health professional, a clinician, a doctor etc. if you don't believe me. |
And doctors must inject the medication by slowly and gently pushing the plunger in -- not to fast and not too slow. Some do it too fast and it's more painful, but injecting into the quads is pretty simple, so it doesn't really matter. Injecting into a tendon is a whole different story -- should be done by a clinician or a highly qualified physician because here carelessness is totally unacceptable. |
