Subject: copes or burns mech.eng.
Добрый вечер

Возник вопрос при переводе инструкции по импорту DXF файлов в систему Raptor ( The Raptor is a cost-effective laser marking, etching or engraving system that offers ... )

Не совсем понятно, как перевести copes and burns.
Заранее спасибо за подсказку.

контекст:

Use the Select Profile button to open the Select Shapes form to select the profile of the part that you chose in the previous step:
If your DXF Units are in inches then check the box “DXF Units are Inches”:
Now navigate to the Shape Options form.
Here you will be able to set specific options for a particular shape; Angles, Beams, Channels, Plates, Tubes, and T Shapes:
Select the appropriate shape tab for the part that you are importing; Angles, Beams, Channels, Plates, Tubes, T Shapes.
Adjust the “Maximum Round Hole Diameter” value to convert round holes larger than your defined value to copes or burns .
Adjust the “Maximum Oval Hole Diameter” value to convert oval holes larger than your defined value to copes or burns .
Adjust the “Maximum Square Hole Width” value to convert square holes larger than your defined value to copes or burns .
Adjust the “Maximum Pop Mark Diameter” value to ignore pop marks larger than your defined value.

No idea, I'm afraid -- but as the Raptor system uses lasers to mark/etch/engrave objects, could 'copes' perhaps be linked in some way to 'to cope' ('to cut', in woodwork/metalwork -- probably from French 'couper' = 'to cut'), as in 'coping saw' (лобзик)???

It's just a thought. Probably not a very helpful one, though ....
