Diploma (with credit)?

NC1: Why can't you have a diploma with credit?

For starters, we don't even know what kind of diploma the original poster is dealing with. In the U.S., a "diploma program" is usually the same as a "non-degree program". In the UK, a "diploma programme" is typically a one-year course of study following the completion of a bachelor degree; the course content is usually similar to a master's degree, but a master's degree usually requires submission of a thesis, while a diploma does not. Chances are, there are also other ideas of what "diploma" means in other English-speaking nations.

Further, in Russia, "academic credit" is by and large a non-existing concept. Students typically get credit for prior academic work when transferring from one institution of higher education to another (provided that it's relevant to their chosen area of study at the "new" institution), but that's about the only situation in which the notion arises (and it's usually called "перезачёт"; try conveying that meaning in English).

NC1: I take your point re the Russian -- but in the UK a 'diploma' and 'merit' can mean almost anything. You can go on a two-month chefs' course here and get a diploma, with a merit in one particular aspect of it -- pastrywork, say. Obviously things are rather better regulated in the US. As you say, we need more context.

standard diploma with credit accommodations

+
credit accommodations
