Вечер добрый. Буду признательна, если кто-нибудь поможет мне с переводом двух выражений, употреблённых в следующем контексте:

1) For all their research, most advertisers never know for sure whether their advertisments sell. Too many other factors CLOUD THE EQUATION.

2) Sad to say, an agency which produced nothing but this kind of down-to-earth advertising would never win a reputation for creativity, and would WITHER ON THE VINE.
