Subject: Tender returns - revisited gen.
Few comments on the term RETURN since I have missed you discussion on the issue.
It is a quite common term in financing, both general and specific in meaning:

General:
He expects a big return on his shares.
If one participates in a tender he also expects a return on his would-be investment, otherwise it does not make any sense to participate for a loss.

Specific:
He got a tax return in the amount of $1,000 this year ( means that he has been refunded by the tax office due to an overpaying).

Hope it will help.

One and a half thumb up :=) it should be that. But after persuading I started to question the returns.

context matters, dude

the phrase that started the discussion was, I'll re-post for everyone, this:
"All tendering contractors have included this figure (identified individually) in their tender returns."

You should provide that piece at the beginning of the discussion.
In this context it means - Tender Expense Statements

Geez guys, you are so confrontational. Would it be better if I switch over to Russian and keep a low profile?

Well, a certain amount of hazing is required,
especially if a person's English is impeccable, or 'prevailing over Russian'.

 Wolverin

Well, just to clarify the matters, 'prevailing'
1) was used by our new guy to describe himself, and
2) caused (quite unfortunately!) my 3:01.

About S: If you refer to a dictionary, you will see that both ways - with S and without it are acceptable in Am Eng. Cheers

About prevailing which caused so musch fuss: When you are in Rome do as Romans do. With that said I simply referred to which of both languages I have to use most in my everyday life for many years. And I never ever tried to call it impeccable - far from it. I am the same humble user of it like everybody else. Amen

"And I never ever tried to call it impeccable" - и это хорошо (

потому что "Few comments" и "It is a quite common term" тоже несколько далеки от совершенства, non? (
