Subject: Веяние времени Есть ли другие варианты "Веяние времени" кроме spirit of times?
|
Zeitgeist (from German) |
Мне бы на английском :) |
vagary of fashion (вариант) |
from M-W: zeit·geist Pronunciation: 'tsIt-"gIst, 'zIt- Function: noun Usage: often capitalized Etymology: German, from Zeit + Geist spirit : the general intellectual, moral, and cultural climate of an era |
Если я воспользуюсь Spirit of times, будет ли это нормально звучать?? просто не особо часто я сталкивался с такой фразой...:-( |

spirit of the times is the best variant you will find for this phrase. it is an accepted english turn of phrase. |
Thank you very much skelly.. |
You'd better use the d's variant! It is generally accepted. |
суслик d's variant is in German, they wanted English and yes, zeitgeist is also accepted in English documents from time to time but it depends entirely upon the audience of the text... usually only scholars will use the term in their articles becasue not everyone who knows English knows this phrase (they are not all scholars) :) |
Ok, thanx for the explanation... i just wanted to add - it has originated from gerrman and now has assimilated and is (though not widely) used in english, now i see you know it, my remarks are tautology))... best regards then))) |
