is the best variant you will find for this phrase.
it is an accepted english turn of phrase.

You'd better use the d's variant! It is generally accepted.

d's variant is in German, they wanted English
and yes, zeitgeist is also accepted in English documents from time to time but it depends entirely upon the audience of the text... usually only scholars will use the term in their articles becasue not everyone who knows English knows this phrase (they are not all scholars)

Ok, thanx for the explanation... i just wanted to add - it has originated from gerrman and now has assimilated and is (though not widely) used in english, now i see you know it, my remarks are tautology))... best regards then)))
