Subject: to contribute A portion of identified extras totalling $XXX.XX gram.
I have a question regards grammar rather than translation. Is it correct to use indefinite article in the following:
“XYZ Association agreed to contribute a portion of identified extras totalling $XXX.XX”?

Thanks, I will really appreciate your response guys.

in this case "the indefinite article". But this does not help to answer my question: can it be "A PORTION" when the amount is known?

Somebody please help!

Sure thing, lisenok_nadia. A portion = (one) part of total amount $XXX.XX

it is not known when it is mentioned
it becomes known only after it is mentioned
