| Notary public -- это нотариус. А вот solicitor... Попали Вы... В Британии и многих бывших колониях не существует профессии юриста. Вместо нее есть две независимые друг от друга профессии -- барристеры выступают в суде, солиситоры пишут бумаги (договоры, завещания и всякое такое)... |

вдогонку: Most notaries are solicitors who have done additional training and two years of practice under supervision. Documents will NOT be acceptable abroad if witnessed by a solicitor (or anyone else, such as your doctor, bank manager). Documents are ONLY valid abroad if signed or witnessed by a Notary. |

« solicitor's primary duty is to his client» – кстати, неверно solicitors in еngland and wales are officers of the court. their primary duty, and loyalty, is to the Crown \the court в российской практике (у юристов, историков права и юридических переводчиков) solicitor всегда традиционно либо переводилось как «стряпчий», либо просто транслитерировалось – «солиситор» |
