Такое название носит внутренний документ горнопромышленной компании, содержащий указания по выполнению этого самого "doubling down". В качестве основных причин для него приводятся такие: 1) To get to the back end of the rope enable to cut a piece off and thereby move the rope layer cross over positions to limit wear in those high wear zones. 2) ii) To be able to adequately tension the bottom layer of the rope on the winder drum to prevent bad coiling and rope crushing after new ropes have been fitted.

Что же это - удвоение, петлевание, сгибание, снятие...? Заранее благодарю откликнувшихся!
