Подскажите, пожалуйста, к чему здесь ending

The European Union (EU) was one of the first large economic blocks to mandate the adoption of IFRS, with the announcement of mandatory support in 2002 for accounts ending on or after January 1, 2005, however the process of adoption is not automatic.

Обязательное применении МСФО при составлении отчетности в ЕС, по идеи, с 1 января 2005 года. Что значит accounts ending on ... Отчетность за период, заканчивающийся 1 января 2005 года? Вероятно, нет. Объясните, пожалуйста.
