The article shows development of Johannes Paul Schor (1615–1674), known in Italy as Giovanni Paolo Tedesco. A native of Austrian Innsbruck, he became the most famous and high-paid foreign artist in Rome of the late 17th century. He worked as an architect and painter, but became really glorious as a designer of handicraft objects made in multitude of materials and techniques for secular and religious events of the Roman life of the second part of the century. As a leader of large artistic teams or working with other famous masters of seicento (Pietro da Cortona, Gianlorenzo Bernini, Carlo Rainaldi), he contributed to well-known projects of baroque epoch, such as the Pope Alexander VII Hall in the Quirinal Palace, Cathedra Petri, main altar of Santa Maria in Campitelli church, decoration of a gallery in Palazzo Colonna, a ceremonial bed of Maria Medici, etc. The peculiarities of his artistic expression became forerunners of a new style uncharacteristic to Rome—rococo, so widely disseminated in the following century. |
As a leader of large artistic teams or working with other famous masters of seicento (Pietro da Cortona, Gianlorenzo Bernini, Carlo Rainaldi), working поменять на collaborating. Перед main altar of Santa Maria определенный артикль. |
Maria Medici = |
запятая после new style |
- STATE BED? |
in A multitude of materials and techniques decoration of THE gallery in Palazzo Colonna |
оставьте ceremonial bed. |
Marie Mancini |
highLY-paid |
THE Baroque Epoch |
Thanks to all |
The article shows development of Johann Paul Schor (1615–1674), known in Italy as Giovanni Paolo Tedesco. ceremonial bed
most highly paid - highest paid? |
the highest paid |
Ceremonial bed vs. state bed State bed The state bed (illustration, right), a lit à la Duchesse—its canopy supported without visible posts— was delivered for the use of Queen Marie Leszczinska at Versailles, as the centrepiece of a new decor realized for the Queen in 1730–35.[3] Its tester is quickly recognizable as a baldachin, serving its time-honoured function; the bedding might easily be replaced by a gilded throne. The queens of France spent a great deal of time in their chambre, where they received the ladies of the court at the morning levée and granted private audiences. By the time Marie Antoinette escaped the mob from this bedroom, such state beds, with the elaborate etiquette they embodied, were already falling out of use. A state bed with a domed tester designed in 1775-76 by Robert Adam for Lady Child at Osterley Park[4] and another domed state bed, delivered by Thomas Chippendale for Sir Edwin Lascelles at Harewood House, Yorkshire in 1773 [5] are two of the last English state beds intended for a main floor State Bedroom in a non-royal residence. |
Ceremonial bed http://www.pbase.com/frank_b/image/104349429 http://www.fourposterbeds-carved.co.uk/renaissance/ceremonial-bed.htm |
consider: The article shows (i would change to describes/depicts/traces/deals with) THE ARTISTIC development of Johann Paul Schor (1615–1674), known in Italy as Giovanni Paolo Tedesco. A native of Austrian Innsbruck (unless there is another Innsbruck, it sounds odd - Innsbruck (Austria)), Schor became the preeminent and most highly paid foreign artist in Rome of the late 17th century.
