Самое общее правило: если что-то сделано из какого-то материала, то это made of. The house is made of wood/brick/stone, etc. Made from употребляется значитльно реже, обычно, если что-то СОСТАВЛЕНО из нескольких ингредиентов:тесто делается из муки, дрожжей и проч. Здесь уже много всего, поэтому batter is made from... Удачи! |
| мне кажется если даже один материал, но подвергнутый переработке, то тоже пишется from. Типа paper is made from wood. |

use "made from" when the original materials have been completely changed (Bread is made from flour and water). Use "made of" when the materials in an object can still be recognized as the original materials (The table is made of wood and metal) (источник: Longman Dictionary of Common Errors) |
| I agree with nephew in principle. But, in AmE, it is acceptable to say, "They built their house FROM brick". |
