Please help me with translating the phrase "Operate (or run) a packing machine"
This is about packing toilet rolls in plastic package (and the package is formed from plastic film coming from reel).
The whole phrase is: Run the machine using the push button "Manual" so that the toilet rolls come up (rise etc.) to the level of the elevator.

How do you translate "to run or operate" a machine that does not move anywhere?
