A technical report comparing digital detectors for general
radiography applications was published in October 2005 by the
Center for Evidence-based Purchasing under contract to the British
National Health Service’s Purchasing and Supply Agency (NHS

The comparison shows that the Trixell Pixium 4600 with CsI/a-Si
technology offers the highest peak DQE, and images higher
frequencies than any of the competing technologies (Gadox/a-Si,
CsI/CCD, a-Se, conventional CsI/a-Si). Due to its smaller pixel pitch
(143 microns) this detector also posted the highest integral DQE.
