natural resource management. well, of course i know what it is, but the question is, how to translate this into russian in a way that wouldnt sound idiotic? any suggestions? tal'

Попробуйте "ресурсно-ориентированный".

Просто на то, что я привык называть "умом", сразу пришли два таких кондовых словца - "природосберегающий" и "ресурсосберегающий", но к месту ли они здесь, не очень понятно, потому что непонятно, что, собственно, такое "resource-led management" :-)

janko, thanx, buddy :)))) tollmuch, it means a system of management that allows for sustainable use of a renewable resource. for example, if we are talking about capture fishery, then it means imposing catch ceilings that would ensure sustainable use year after year of fish stocks. or, alternitavely, if we are talking pastures, then it entails a management system that would modulate grazing pressure in such a way as to prevent depletion and degradation. m i making myself clear? somebody, help, pleeeewze :((( tal'

rudut and tollmuch: i liked ur suggestions and floated them, but unfortunately my client, a moscow based consultant, is rather finicky and rejected them. since he had brushed aside my proposals peremptorily, i asked if he could provide his own versions, just to to indicate to me the flow of his thinking, but he said that he personally didnt know waht the right translation would be but that he would know it when saw it. now, arent moscovites just so sweet? (thats a rhetorical question :))))

Талгат, а как же предложение Янко? Надо ж было и его учесть - и есть подозрение, что консультанту понравилось бы именно это ;-) BTW it's not endemic to Moscow-based consultants, they're all like that, globally...;-)
