Electronic conversion services for manually prepared declarations are also provided by the above contracted service providers through a network of agents (i.e. commercial banks, International Chamber of Commerce) in Hong Kong. Importers can complete a declaration and have the service agent convert the declaration into an electronic message that routes the data through one of the above service providers for onward transmission to Customs.
Once the entry is accepted the electronic system issues an acknowledgement message and automatically generates a Unique Declaration Reference (UDR) which is used to track the entry. Customs clearance is notified electronically.
