Пожалуйста, помогите перевести "swipe accross the top of the pycnometer" в след. отрывке (По пикнометру надо ударять???):

Use a straight edge object (i.e. ruler or spatula) to swipe accross the top of the pycnometer to remove excess water from the top of the pycnometer. (Note: water the level inside the pycnometer should be even with the top edge of the pycnometer).

Используя прямолинейный объект (т.е. линейку или штапель), ударить по верхней части пикнометра для того, чтобы удалить излишек воды с верней части (примечание: вода внутри пикнометра должна быть на уровне верхнего края пикнометра).
