Ok, this might seem really bizarre to you guys. I and a friend have decided to start up a project (and we will see if it goes anywhere).

We want to create a small company (the two of us for now) which is dedicated to locating Russian translators/interpreters for large corporations, organizations, ect. We want to offer services in London and in Moscow, St. Petersburg and some other russian cities.
The idea has come out of the fact that a number of London firms, etc. are branching out with operations in Russia and demand in London (and in Europe actually) for native speaking Russian translators/interpreters has risen pretty sharply (especially in the financial world).

so here is the deal. I want to create a database of the contacts of anyone who would be interested in picking up some extra work this way. I would need your contacts and your topics. I also need a sample of your English in your chosen fields. You pay me nothing. I contact you when I think I have something for you. The company I locate you for pays me.

yeah, people can have a lot of ideas and sometimes a lack of capital can stop them. the capital involved in this is almsot nill so you can stop worrying that it wont happen. if people are interested (and i mean translators and interpreters), it can happen. if they arent - it wont happen.

I would just like to add a note to my original proposal:

This really is for you guys. You have been really good to me here and I look at this as an opportunity to turn around and do something for all of you now. There are some really talented people on this forum and I want to see you get your moneys worth for that talent. If all goes well, the thing should be up and running within a month. So I urge you to write if you are interested. (And I would really like to get the Londoners on board.)

You have to be a native speaking Russian and you can be translator or interpreter (or both)
