Пожалуйста, помогите перевести. Что означает "built three to four feet off the ground"

Выражение встречается в следующем контексте:It was a single-storey building with a sharply sloping iron roof, built three to four feet off the ground...

I also thought it was built on poles, but it looks like they are talking about the roof, not the building itself.

Думаю, что все-таки на сваях, столбах и т.п. с зазором в три-четры фута. Как тут вот...
