With all due respect for professional geologists, just because профильная деятельность, профильные бизнесы of an (oil) Co is appropriately translated as "core activities", does not necessarily mean that THAT SAME word will apply across the board, без разбору, forever and ever and unto the ages of ages, irrespective of the context.

Depending on what the author actually meant here, I would recommend either "relevant" or "sectoral"
