Помогите, пожалуйста, перевести фразу: Если переговоры пойдут сложно

Контекст

В результате Польша сама поставила себя в трудное положение. В принципе Россия заинтересована в подписании нового Соглашения. Однако если переговоры пойдут сложно, ничто не мешает России пролонгировать действующее Соглашение на 2007 год и так дальше. В общем, оно устраивает Россию.

But if the negotiations make difficult progress, there will be nothing to prevent Russia from prolonging the existing/effective Agreement up to 2007 and more. On the whole Russia is satisfied/happy with it.

Poland now finds hereself in a difficult position. У аскера говорится, что Польша САМА СЕБЯ поставила в трудное положение. А в Вашем переводе этого не видно.

И заметьте, что перевести нужно "Переговоры пойдут сложно". При этом вовсе необязательно, что они провалятся или на них будет регресс. Может быть и прогресс, но медленный.
