Subject: Маленький метаграмматический вопрос ling. У меня вопрос:Можно ли употреблять слово developments (pl.) в значении “разработки” (передовые разработки, область – химическое пр-во). |
| Я встречал в английском тексте, правда, не химическом, но именно в значении разработки. В сети ссылок сколько угодно. |

| Мне кажется это не грамотно. developments имеет значение события, разработки грунта и т.д. Я бы не употреблял так. |

Мне тоже кажется что developments в значении "исследования" - что-то не то. Звучит как ложный друг переводчика )) Studies или research ... Advances, trends etc. |

Речь не только о технике, но и об исследовании химических веществ, их свойств, и о том, как добиться желаемых свойств для применения в промышленности. А как с "передовым" связать? |

Примерно так: Мы занимаемся передовыми научными разработками в области ПАВ и выпускаем продукцию на их основе. Я уже как только не выворачивалась с этими разработками... |

I asked whether it would be correct to use “developments” for “разработки”. You think, possible? |

| Development в значении разработка годится если у вас процесс! Но у вас-то не процесс, а результат! Поэтому и не советует народ )) |
