Introduction.
This document articulates a set of teaching competencies for university teaching. The competencies have been developed from literature based on research into the effect of university teaching on student learning and through consultation with the Murdoch academic community. It is envisaged that the material will be used to:-
• make explicit the University's expectations for effective teaching and learning;
• facilitate an academic's professional development in teaching and learning;
• guide applications for appointment and promotions; and,
• facilitate student learning.
