as a question the phrase is: in whose name is the car registered? who's name is the car in? |
Кинсман, Если не знаете, лучше помолчать. |
Look, you can all take or leave what I am telling you, but sometimes, it really is worth listening to me. put in someone's name may be a conversational term but it, in any case, does exist. |

Nina, Please. Do not talk about grammar. For your own sake! В вашем положении надо молчать и слушать (c) |
**registered to me then would also be conversational as it is grammatically incorrect** Same answer I got from a brit in our office. Ну, ладно Let's shake hands on it. |
Hopefully the brit in your office is just as competent in terms of english language as Ms. Nina 79 |

Don't cast a slur on Nina. She's damn good in her own way. and she's head and shoulder better than u in English. It's her tongue, man. |
I don't believe that you are Gogolesque. I used to like Gogo alot. Are you really her? |
did you read my post yesturday? yes i am gogolesque and a plethora of others here. go to my off from yesturday. it's called something like "be in the know my dearies" |
I could have. Why all these doubles, darling? |
Don't call me darling and don't assume that I am in a good mood right now. I am sick of defending myself all over the place and my mood has been royaly ruined for at least half an hour. If you want to know why I have so many names, read the vetka. Sorry for the bluntness. |
Your one and only problem is that you are always trying to defend and explain yourself. You should take things easy and be cool. That's my advice. Don't take the forum so seriously. And don't mind the nipplejoke. You should know how to take jokes. After all you grow up in the country of Richard Pryor. |
Ok, Ok, in my humble opinion, in spoken language, you can "put the car in someone's name" and you can "register a car to someone". I would not use those expressions myself, especially in writing. But I have certainly heard them before. Again, I don't think it is the best way to say it, but I don't think it is fundamentally wrong. I would say "register the car in someone's name." Suggestions with "title transfer" above should also work, especially in official DMV context. |
