Subject: предпремьерный прогон спектакля theatre. Вопрос к театралам-носителям английского языка. Как у вас называется мероприятие, которое по-русски зовется "предпремьерный прогон спектакля"? Означает это вот что: режиссерский просмотр спектакля последовательно по актам в течение репетиции, которая непосредственно предшествует премьере. Прошу не путать с генеральной репетицией.

| What's the best way to indicate that a rehearsal/run-through is final AND that the play is going to be given its first public performance? That's what 'предпремьерный прогон спектакля' means. |
| Except that the premiere would be the first public performance, otherwise it wouldn't be by definition 'предпрмьерный', would it? The closest analogy that I can think of would be final dress rehearsal, but then I don't work in the theatre... |

Thank you,Redarmy! Do you mean 'the premiere' is not the same as 'the first public performance'? What's the difference? If the dress rehearsal precedes the premiere, it might be logical to call it 'предпремьерный', wouldn't it? |
