Как еще можна сказать "зарядил дождь", окромя того, что есть здесь:
Пр.: Похоже, что дождь зарядил. - The rain looks like lasting.
Или того, что в Лингво:
Пр.: дождь зарядил - keep coming down

М.б., "rain fell down/rain's fallen down"?

В последнем чувствуется, что "дождь полил", м.б, как из ведра, то есть проливной.
"Зарядил" - эт, по мне, начал падать такой хорошенький дождичек, надолго.

А конструкция "it did rain" - как?
Ну, м.б., надо употребить в Perfect Continuous: "it's been done rain", "there's been done rain".
