Subject: capture and ЗАХВАТ
recently I have come across the words/expressions "capture and ЗАХВАТ" in texts and speeches on economy and entrepreneurship. In some versions it is "state capture" and in others something like "the capture rate in the sector is X%". Multitran has "state capture" as "приватизация" государства. Interpreting quotation marks is not an easy task...Google has several links to documents where "state capture" is referred to as oligarchs purchasing state assets.

To make the long story short - is it something similar to "the share of X in this sector is Y%"? Or is it really about some unfriendly takeover?

thanks in advance

thirteen, it is more like unfriendly takeover for me, but you really need the context to feel (not just understand) what an author had in mind.

thanks Wass...The problem is I have no or far TOOOOOOO many contexts...None of them though is about unfriendly takeover, they are general reflections about economy and entrepreneurship in Russia, where some sectors are dominated by the state. That's exactly the point - I would have said smth like "the state's (or smbdy's else) share is X%". Is it a new expression?
