in fact i am not sure we have a specific term

most people say "when you get there, look for the arrivals/departures board/schedule"
some people say "schedule board"
others will say "the big board"

She is translating an itinerary (расписание) for tourists and has to mention that some time will be set aside for luggage check-in.

я просто думала, что это просто сдача
на хранение, а не регистрация
сумок-чемоданов...
ну как.. пришёл в сейф всё положил,

так они называют всякую сдачу - суть та же, отдаете багаж, получаете бирку.
Но для ясности возьмите у gogolesque первый вариант - placing ...
