Subject: захлюпав and некошеным. mus.
I am trying to translate the following verse.
I cannot find the words for захлюпав and некошеным.
Can somebody help me please? Please explain in English because I do not speak Russian very well.

Капли на лице - это просто дождь, а может плачу это я.
Дождь очистил все и душа захлюпав, вдруг размокла у меня.
Потекла ручьем прочь из дома к солнечным некошеным лугам.
Превратившись в парус, с ветром полетела к неизведанным, мирам.

Drops on the face - this is simply rain, and may I buy it.
The rain washed everything and the shower захлюпав, suddenly I got wet again.
The brook flowed away from the house to sunny некошеным to meadows.
Turning into a sail, with the wind took wing to the unkown, to the worlds.

Thanks in advance.

захлюпала - скорее всего заплакала (cry)
некошенный - unreaped или uncutted

Drops on my face - this is simply rain, or am I weeping.
The rain washed everything and melt my sobbing soul;
It flowed away from home to sunny virgin meadows
And turned in to a sail to go with wind to novel universe.

а может плачу я - or may be I am crying

First of all, душа means soul here, so it would be something like "the rain has washed everything, and my soul started to cry" (захлюпать means to start clearing the running nose as a result of tears).

Then it is the soul again that flowed like a brook ...

некошеный - uncut meadows

and the last phrase - to the unknown worlds

The above variant is brilliant, yet I have decided to post my explanations anyway :-))

Thanks azu and Squirell !

Maybe "захлюпать" means "sniffle"?
How does this sound?

Drops on my face - is this simply rain, or am I weeping.
The rain washed everything and my soul started sniffling;
It flowed away from home like a brook to the sunny uncut meadows
And turned into a sail and took off with the wind to the unkown universe.

oops. I meant to say "to unknown words".
Either way it sounds ok, but I prefer a literal translation.

If you prefer literal translation you may say "my soul started sniffling". Then, does your soul has a running nose?

there are several meanings, not only sniffle - when it rains and everth is wet, your shoes can хлюпать, for example, etc.
this word adds to the whole description of rain
viz
ХЛЮПАТЬ несов. неперех. разг.
1. Издавать звуки всплеска, чавкания (о воде, жиже, грязи и т.п.).
2. Вызывать при ходьбе по чему-л. грязному, жидкому звуки всплесков, чавкания.
3. Издавать всхлипывающие звуки; плакать, всхлипывая.

Sorry. "My soul sniffles" does sound weird in English.
I agree "my soul cries/sobs" sounds better in the poetic sense.
But still, souls do not have eyes to cry.
How does it sound in Russian?

quoting azu
"захлюпать means to start clearing the running nose as a result of tears"

Sounds like sniffling to me, but there may be no clear English equivalent.

RE: Превратившись в парус, с ветром полетела к неизведанным, мирам.
По, моему там запятая перед "мирам" лишняя (см. текст песни ДДТ "Дождь", напр.

Drops upon my face| is it simply rain or are there tears from my eys
The rain washed everything| and my soul slopping| soaked all at once;
It flowed away from home| like a brook to virgin| meadows under sun
And turned into a sail| and took off with the wind| to universes we don't know.

The translaton of "soul" depends on how a person imagines it to himself: he can compare it with mud, personify and exhault it or whatever...
