Subject: full-time, part-time programme, undergraduate, graduate programme full-time, part-time programme, undergraduate, graduate programmeЛюди, кто был и, может, даже учился за границей, объясните, пожалуйста, разницу между: full-time programme - part-time programme undergraduate programme - graduate programme Всегда знала, что part-time - это заочники или вечерники (не знаю, есть ли таковые за границей), но сегодня меня пытались переубедить, что это программа 10-ти часовой занятости. Помогите, пожалуйста. Спасибо |
Nope, full time course means studying a course which makes up a full time course of study in a given year, namely a sufficient number of papers for the student to be considered to be studying full time, i.e. most of your time is taken up with study. In the case of mine i.e. the University of Auckland that would be eight papers per year. Part time is generally only a few papers per year, i.e. so that one could only be considered to be studying part of the time. Here it does not mean via correspondence or at nighttime. An undergraduate programme is a Bachelor's course, whereas a graduate or postgraduate programme is something along the lines of an Honours course, Masters or Doctorate etc. |

at my university (UMD) full-time meant you were taking 15 (if i remember correctly) credit hours of classes per semester - it did not depend on papers at all |
Redarmy - papers, what do you mean? |
Papers for us, means like Russian 101 etc, different unis use different terminology it seems. They're changing all the terminology now, but I'm finished so don't really care. |

basically full time means you are taking a full load of courses (are a "full" student) and part time that you are taking less than a full load of courses |
Isn't that what I said in kind of a roundabout way? :p |
Спасибо большое за объяснения. Только как это на русский язык точно передать? |
Whoa, good luck with that one... |
обучение по полной программе - по сокращенной программе имхо |
Readarmy - I still can't figure out: Papers for us, means like Russian 101 etc, different unis use different terminology it seems. Russian 101 - ???? |
Всем большущее спасибо. |
