specimens of species

Я уже, наверно, всех задолбала этими specimens of species, но у меня все-таки остались сомнения по поводу того, как переводить слово specimens, если по контексту оно означает: живые или мертвые растения и животные,части растений и животных, изделия из них. К изделиям, в даном случае, относятся ювелирные, части музыкальных инструментов и т.д.
Мне понравился вариант "екземпляры видов",а на форуме предложили "представители видов", но можно ли назвать "представителем" кожу, натянутую на барабан, или гербарий?
Поэтому хотела спросить, уместно ли будет в тексте Регламента Совета ЕС переводить это слово то как "экземпляр", то как "представитель"? Или все-таки лучше остановиться на одном варианте?

lavazza, у Вас такой хороший ник, веет ароматом кофе и напоминает Италию (в ее обезбашенной части), дайте контекст, чтобы не получить вариант "образцы специй".

Вообще, specimens - образец. В первую очередь. Все "представители" уже потом :))).

‘worked specimens that were acquired more than 50 years
previously’ shall mean specimens that were significantly altered
from their natural raw state for jewellery, adornment, art, utility,
or musical instruments, more than 50 years before the entry into
force of this Regulation and that have been, to the satisfaction of
the management authority of the Member State concerned,
acquired in such conditions. Such specimens shall be considered
asworked only if they are clearly in one of the aforementioned
categoriesand require no further carving, crafting or manufacture
to effect their purpose;

Мне кажется экземпляры,
если конкретно гербарий, камни, коллекции бабочек - то наверное образцы.
А представители вообще сюда не подходят
